Front suspension and tie rod grinding Z71 Chevrolet 2008 Silverado 1500 2WD question
May 14, 2014· So I finally had my vwr springs and koni struts and shocks put in... but now while driving i hear a rubbing noise or grinding noise coming from the front end... im on stock 17in rims and the car is a 2012 gli..anyone else experience something similar? unsure what it could be.

Feb 04, 2005· It seemed that when I took the load off the suspension by jacking the car up the noise would temporarily go away until that balljoint "settled" back into position and started grinding again. Here a thread that I had added to when I though my problem was solved with the axle replacement. In my case the axle and balljoint were both bad.

Aug 22, 2004· The TSB repair procedure (at the link above) has some adjustments to the coilspring insultators which may fix your clunk/scraping/grinding noise. It could of course, also be your wheels, if your running a non standard offset (rubbing the fenderwell). Either way, you most likely need to give your front suspension a extensive inspection.
Dec 06, 2011· The grinding noise you here is a normal/common occurance on lifted reg cabs. I started a thread on it a couple years ago. Once your speed drops below about 50, it goes away during deceleration or coasting in gear (engine braking). Taking the driveline out and flipping it end to end suppsoidly makes the noise go away.
